Welcome to the Catawba Valley Brewing Website. Our site is currently under construction, please come back often in order to enjoy the numerous additional features we will be adding.
In the interim, here’s a bit of history about our brewery:
Our Brew Guru, W. Scott Pyatt, and his brother Billy started in 1995 brewing small 5 and 10 gallon batches from grains and hops and yeast. In 1999 he purchased some used equipment from a brewery which had gone out of business and began blending the two skills of “art” and “science”. His first CVBC beer was our Farmer Ted’s Farmhouse Cream Ale, which some refer to as our Flagship product. Soon after he secured a new kettle for boiling the wort, a new heat exchanger for better consistency and a 20 Bbl fermenter with temperature controls. We were off and running.
The Catawba Valley Brewery is set up to run fast and hard. There is usually a wonderful smell of malts and hops hanging in the air. A good day for CVBC means no malfunctions, no injuries, high performance and great beer that meets our demanding standard for consistency. All of our beers are “stand alone” meaning they are not a bunch of look-a-likes with different names. Each style is considered its own shining star. On a good day we can run 2 to 3 batches thru and this allows us to meet the ever growing demand for our “Finely Handcrafted Ales” One of the pluses to being a bit smaller is that we can quickly adjust on the fly and create new and interesting beers at will. We offer 5 year round standard ales, several seasonal ales, and even mix in a batch or two of “requested” brews.
The brewery is a great place to hang out. Within it’s 8000 sq ft we have several 20Bbl fermenters sometimes referred to as the “tank farm”, kegs galore, a tasting area, a huge stage that not only allows our patrons to enjoy good music, but we also have a full backline, drums, PA and production capability for our bands to lay down tracks. We host numerous corporate events and our live music venue has been host to national touring bands and several Grammy award winning artists. Please see our event schedule for the latest news. We also offer Brewery Tours to the public, simply give us a call to schedule a tour and we will make sure you learn a lot and have fun at the same time.
We may be a tad smaller compared to some, but our beers are BIG and our team of dedicated employees work hard each and every day to make sure of one thing. You get the best beer possible!
